Kalimpong - Gangtok – Pelling - Darjeeling (8 nights and 9 days)

Enjoy the chilly breeze in the beautiful mountains of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Gangtok. Visit the beautiful orange orchards in Kalimpong, listen to the rhythmic reverberation of the prayers in the monasteries as the colourful flags flutter away carrying your prayers to the Gods in Gangtok and stroll in the busy markets in Darjeeling. Breathe in the fresh air and soak in the magical serenity of the Hill Stations in the East of India.

Day 01:

Arrive Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station and immediately drive to Kalimpong (65kms / 2hrs), a quiet hill resort in eastern Himalaya. Kalimpong is famous for its Orchids & Nurseries and some of the rarest Cacti & Orchids can be seen. Oak, Maple and chestnut stretch up the ridge as far as the eye can reach. Evening visit the local market to have an in depth knowledge about the local culture and community.. Arrive and transfer to hotel. Overnight stay in Kalimpong.

Day02 :

This day after breakfast, proceed for half-day sightseeing in and around Kalimpong covering Durpin Dhara, Zong Dog Palri Fo-Brong Monastery, and Flower & Orchid Nurseries & Kalimpong Market. Later drive to Gangtok (80kms / 3hrs) a bustling, friendly hill station, and the capital of the Himalayan state of Sikkim. The name Gangtok is derived from the Tibetan word for 'hillside’. Gangtok would be easily one of the most cleanest cities you would ever come across, highly organised and beautifully maintained it as the Switzerland of the East. Arrive and transfer to hotel. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 03 :

This morning after breakfast, proceed for a half-day sightseeing in and around this capital city of Sikkim, covering Enchey Monastery, Chortan (Stupa), Institute of Tibetology (Closed on Sunday),Institute of Handicrafts and handlooms (Closed on Sunday). In the afternoon, visit Roomtek Monastery – One of the most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and head seat of the Karma Kagyu school in Sikkim. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 04 :

This early morning, start for a day excursion to Tsongmo Lake, located 32kms from Gangtok, this lake is almost 1Km long and oval in shape. It is also a home of Brahminy Ducks besides being a stopover for various migratory birds. Tsongmo Lake is declared a sacred lake by the local Buddhist and Hindu population. The lake remains hidden in the rich forest cover. It is believed that the birds do not permit even a single leaf to float on the lake surface. Evening return back to Gangtok. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 05 :

Today morning, after breakfast proceed to Pemayangtse also called as Pelling, (123kms / 5.5hrs), enroute visit Ravangla – a small township in South Sikkim at the base of Menam Hill. Located at an altitude of 6,800ft, Pelling is famous for it's magnificent views of the snow-capped mountains of Kanchenjunga and its ranges. It has a rich history, natural environment and local culture. On a clear day, it offers an all day view of Kanchendzonga and the entire Eastern Himalayan range. Arrive and transfer to hotel. Overnight stay in Pelling.

Day 06 :

This day, after breakfast start for a full day sightseeing in and around Pemayangtse, covering Changay Falls, Singshore Bridge (Worlds 2nd highest hanging bridge), Dentam Bazar – a beautiful Sikimease village and Pemayangtse Monastery – the 2nd oldest monastery of Sikkim. Thereafter proceed to Rimbi Falls, Sacred Kheochopalri Lake and Kanchendzonga Falls. Evening free for individual activity and leisure. Overnight stay in Pelling.

Day 07 :

This morning, after breakfast drive to Darjeeling (128kms / 4.5hrs), Dorje, the mystic thunderbolt of the Lama-Religion is the origin of the name Darjeeling, which was first discovered in the year 1829 by Captain Lloyd. Surrounded by tea gardens Darjeeling is a land of infinite variety and charm which will cater you a mix-experience of lively nature & charming Himalayan people. This little town faces some of the highest peaks of the Himalayas. Take rest and then walk around the town to appreciate the new culture you are in. Arrive and transfer to hotel. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.

Day 08 :

Today, very early in the morning, start for Tiger Hill to watch the spectacular sunrise, when the first rays of the sun kiss the Mt. Kanchenjunga and give it a golden color and the amazing effects on the Mt. Kanchendzonga (Worlds 3rd highest peak). Thereafter visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop War Memorial while returning to the hotel. After having breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a half-day tour of the city, covering Padmaja N. Zoological Garden (Closed on Thursday), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center (Closed on Sunday). You might also experience the famous Toy Train Joy Ride (subject to availability. This unique Mountain Railway project was first started in 1878 by the initiative of Sir. Assly Eden and is now a World Heritage. Visit the Mall and local market in the evening for shopping and leisure activities. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.

Day 09 :

Today you will be transferred to the Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway station (95kms / 3hours) to board your flight or train to onward destination with fond memories of the “Eastern Odyssey”.
